Su Tang Qin Xie Chapter 1 <<<
"Our General's Mansion comes from the Duke An Guo's family, we have strict rules. Since you entered our mansion with such an identity, you must abide by the rules of our mansion and avoid offending your master."
Su Tang softly replied with a low hum, lowering her eyes and following Zheng Mama forward.
In two more days, her elder sister Su Yuqing would marry the master of this mansion, while she, the concubine sister, had arrived at Qin's residence today as a maidservant.
It wasn't that she had ulterior motives to get closer to the general by marrying him. It was her elder sister who was frail and sickly, and she feared that this General Qin, with his rough demeanor, wouldn't be able to treat her gently. But she also couldn't bear to give up this marriage, so she proposed a "trial marriage."
"Up ahead is Master's courtyard. He has many friends who visit him daily, all high-ranking officials in the court. You should know to step aside and avoid attracting attention, so that no one says our household is unrefined."
Su Tang responded again, following Zheng Mamas' words forward, but before she could see the courtyard, she saw two young men coming together.
One of them was clad in armor and a robe, his eyes cold and sharp. There was a scar on his temple, marking him as the master of this Qin residence, Qin Xie, a newlywed nobleman who had returned to the capital a few days prior. He held the prestigious title of Martial Prowess General.
Zheng MaMa also saw it, and immediately whispered, "Turn around and avoid it."
Su Tang followed her and turned around, bowing her head and unable to speak. But Qin Jie still saw them, and quickly sent his friend away and walked towards them.
"Is this the person sent by the Su family?"
Ching's grandmother hurriedly agreed and whispered to Su Tang to call someone.
Su Tang felt awkward and didn't know how to begin. After a moment of hesitation, she said: "My humble self, Su Tang, greets you."
Qin Xie seemed to still remember her. Upon hearing the name, his face darkened: "It's you... You haven't even passed through the door yet, don't call me that."
This was said very rudely, as if he didn't look down on her at all. Grand Ma Zheng's eyes became strange, and Su Tang was also embarrassed by the words, but she dared not show her displeasure, so she could only lower her eyebrows even more: "Yes, General."
Qin Xie turned and strode away, his voice echoing from afar: "Come in."
Zheng Mama only then led Su Tang forward, but as soon as they entered the main hall, Qin Xie sent her away. There were only the two of them left in the hall.
The man rode his horse straight up and sat down. When he looked back, his brows furrowed in displeasure, "A concubine is half a slave. How could the daughter of the Su family do such a thing? If it wasn't voluntary, I would discuss with your stepmother to find you another suitable match."
Su Tang's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't expected Qin Xie to say that. People said he was ruthless and killed without hesitation, while those in his household described him as a rough and uncouth warrior. Yet, it seemed there was also a kind and considerate side to him. It's just that she couldn't agree.
She lowered her eyes: "The general is valiant, I have long admired him, this was my own volition."
Qin Xie's eyebrows furrowed deeply: "Admiration? You and I have only met twice, how can you say you admire me?"
Su Tang clenched her fingers, trying to ease the tension of lying: "The general sent a New Year's gift to our house two years ago. He gave me a small wooden eagle figurine. It was the first time I received such a peculiar thing..."
"That's for the older sister. You're just passing by."
Su Tang was blocked. How could she not know that they were just passing by?
Qin Xie and Su Yuqing are cousins, their engagement was arranged since childhood. During every festival or special occasion, he never failed to show his respect. To protect her reputation, he would always bring other sisters from his family, but the gifts he gave were vastly different.
Su Tang wasn't without her discernment, but what could she do about it?
She had to come.
"This one understands, General, please rest assured. I will not overstep my bounds. Once I enter your household, I will surely be obedient and not cause any trouble for the General or your sister. Please keep me."
Qin Xie's face darkened: "Su Tang, I remind you, this is a chance for you to make another choice. Once I let go, your life will be ruined forever."
Su Tang's fingertips clenched until they ached, but she still replied with a voice: "Thank you for your kindness, General. Please grant me this favor."
Qin Ye fell silent, and after a long while, let out a low sneer, his voice dripping with sarcasm: “A respectable young lady from an official family, choosing to be a concubine instead of the legitimate wife...how utterly pathetic.”
Su Tang's heart ached fiercely, almost overwhelmed by these words and tears welling up, but she could only grit her teeth and endure.
"Let's go."
Qin Xie spoke again, Su Tang was startled and then reacted to the meaning of his words. She subconsciously clutched her collar, a little flustered: "Here, here?"
Qin Ye's eyes were filled with undisguised coldness: "What else? Do you expect me to prepare a dragon and phoenix double happiness candle for a concubine and set up a bed for a thousand sons and grandchildren?"
Su Tang hadn't expected such treatment, but...
She looked around. This was the main hall; even with the door closed, you could hear noises from outside. There wasn't even a bed: "General, shall we go inside?"
"I just love it here, get out if you can't handle it."
Su Tang's face turned pale, her fingertips trembled again and again, and finally she closed her eyes. She raised her hand and rested it on her waist: "I can bear it..."
She slowly untied her belt, Qin Xie's face showing disappointment: "You still haven't left, you really surprise me."
He recalled the events two years ago. He had gone to the Su family that day with the intention of seeing Su YUQING, but unfortunately, the other party was ill and did not show her face. Instead, at a family banquet, he caught sight of Su TANG at first glance. At that time, she was only fourteen years old and thinner than others. Among the noisy crowd vying for attention and paying New Year's greetings, she was so well-behaved and considerate, eliciting pity.
I couldn't have imagined that in just two years, she would change so much. She became obsessed with power and wealth, even forgetting about her own friends and family.
After all, she is just a daughter born out of wedlock. Her heart is not right.
